Pirates flame out at
Liberty

After bolting to a 17-3
lead in the first eight minutes, East Carolina was outscored by Liberty
61-39 during the remainder of the game as the Flames burned the Pirates
64-56 in Lynchburg, VA.
Liberty (4-1) was led by
Alex McLean's 17 points, including 13 in the second half. Larry Blair
added 15 points for the Flames and B.J. Jenkins recorded 12.
Senior Courtney Captain
was ECU's top scorer with 16 points, while junior Darrell Jenkins
contributed 13.
The Pirates were hampered
by inferior shooting from the floor and the foul line, making only 20 of
57 field goal attempts (35.1 percent) and 10 of 27 free throws (37.0
percent.) ECU was a frigid 1-11 from three-point range (9.1 percent.)
The Flames connected on 23
of 57 from the field (40.4 percent) and 17 of 31 from the charity stripe
(56.7 percent.)
Liberty won the rebound
battle 47-37.
East Carolina will
be on the road again Tuesday for a 7 p.m. matchup at UNC-Wilmington. The
Pirates will host South Florida on Saturday at 7 p.m.
