Gomez delivered a one-two scoring punch to help Tulane assure itself of
its first winning season in four years with an 88-72 Conference USA
victory over East Carolina Wednesday night in New Orleans.
Tulane (15-12, 8-7 C-USA)
trailed just once when East Carolina senior Courtney Captain drilled a
three-pointer to give the Pirates a 12-9 advantage, but the Green Wave
responded with a three-point play by Gomez that ignited an 18-4 run and
set the trend for the game's eventual outcome.
Moore scored 22 points,
Gomez finished with 20 and Robinson Louisme recorded 11 for Tulane,
which led 52-36 at halftime.
Captain, the hero in ECU's
Saturday night upset
win over Texas-El Paso, led the Pirates (6-22, 1-14) with
17 points, while junior Darrell Jenkins added 15, freshman Brandon Evans
had 11 and junior Cory Farmer contributed 10.
East Carolina closes out
its regular season with another road game Saturday versus Central
Florida (Saturday, 7:30 p.m.)
