Frank Robinson, a 6-foot-2,
190-pound guard who played the 2003-04 season as a freshman at East
Carolina, will transfer to Cal State Fullerton, according to the Orange
County (Cal.) Register.
Robinson averaged 3.8 points last season for the Pirates. He scored 19
points in a 59-57 win at South Florida, ECU's first Conference USA road win
in three years. As a freshman, Robinson started 10 games in ECU's 13-14
season in 2003-04 and averaged 13.8 minutes per game.
Robinson, who grew up in Carson, Cal., played with current Titans guard
Bobby Brown on AAU teams for several years before leaving for the East
coast. Robinson averaged 17 points at Maine Central Institute in Pitsfield,
Maine during the 2002-03 season.
Robinson began his high school career at Sylmar High in Sylmar, Cal.,
helping his team to a 69-15 record over three seasons. He lettered three
years in football at Sylmar, setting school single game records with 253
receiving yards as a junior and five sacks as a sophomore defensive back.
ECU men's basketball coach Bill Herrion had indicated that Robinson was
considering transferring because of family issues at home.
Adam Tancredi, a 6-9 power forward from Santa Margarita (Cal.) High, also
will transfer to Cal State Fullerton, according to the Orange County
Register report. Tancredi played two seasons at Quinnipiac College, a
Division I school in Connecticut, and will have two seasons left. He spent
one year at a New Hampshire prep school after graduating from Santa
Margarita in 2001.
