TAKING CARE OF BUSINESS
With the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl
looming ever closer, the East Carolina football team began shifting its
practice focus to drills in shorts and fine-tuning special teams,
offensive and defensive details, as opposed to the more physical work in
pads that had characterized the squad's early-week sessions.
Bowl week has been
a busy mix of leisure pursuits, cultural immersion and
serious game preparations for the Pirates and their
opponents from Boise State. ECU coach Skip Holtz told
reporters his players have maintained a keen sense of
balancing fun with business as they approach their
second bowl game in two years.
Today's agenda
includes early afternoon visits by both teams to the
Shriner's Hospital. The Pirates are scheduled for final
walk-throughs at Aloha Stadium, the site of tomorrow's
nationally-televised game, from 3:00-4:30 p.m. Hawaiian
Time, with the Broncos to follow from 4:30-6:00 p.m..
The matchup between
ECU and 22-ranked BSU will mark the first time the
programs have faced each other. Kickoff for Sunday's
game, to be televised by ESPN, is set for 3:00 p.m.
Hawaiian Time (8:00 p.m. Eastern Time).
