Owls one win away from Omaha

Jordan Dodson scored from second base on a single in the bottom of the ninth
inning to tie the game and singled through the left side to drive in the winning run from second in the tenth inning as Rice rallied to defeat
Texas A&M, 3-2, in game one of the NCAA Houston Super Regional on Friday
night.
A crowd of 5,074, the fourth
largest in Reckling Park history, witnessed Rice come back from a 2-0 deficit
after 2 1/2 innings to take its 21st consecutive win at home.
The victory gives the Owls a 1-0 lead in the best-of-three series heading
into today's 6 p.m. EDT game (ESPNU), putting the Owls one win away from
their sixth trip to the College World Series and their fourth in the last
six years.
In other action on the
first day of the super
regionals, North Carolina defeated South Carolina 9-6,
Louisville smothered Oklahoma State 9-0, and Mississippi State beat Clemson
8-6.
