GREENVILLE — Gabriel Mikulas scored 21 points to pace four players in double figures as East Carolina extracted some revenge from visiting Coastal Carolina on Saturday.

The Pirates pulled away in the second half for a 76-59 victory over the Chanticleers, who stunned the Pirates 90-71 last season in Conway, SC.

Moussa Badiane backed Mikulas with 15 points, 11 rebounds and four assists. Erroyl Bing had 13 points and eight rebounds off the bench and Belton Rivers had 10 points.

Coastal Carolina shot 38 percent in the first half but hit six three-pointers and led 31-30 at halftime. The Pirates buckled down in the second half, holding the Chanticleers (1-3) to just nine field goals.

The Pirates shot 47 percent from the field in the game and enjoyed a 42-23 rebounding edge.

E.J. Gallup converted 5 of 9 3-pointers on his way to 21 points for Coastal Carolina. Brandon Newby added 14. The Chanticleers finished with 11 3-pointers.

ECU takes its 3-0 record on the road next week for a Tuesday game at George Mason and a Saturday battle at Seton Hall.
